Our Mission

ACHS Music prepares students for college and life by providing mastery through competitive Marching Band, Winter Percussion, and Winter Guard programs along with traditional concert-hall performances.

Our Mission

The American Canyon High School (ACHS) Music Program is a vital area of study in the ACHS curriculum and ACHS students’ high school experience.  Mr. Brendan Day, (Bachelor of Music, Berklee College of Music), is the program’s Artistic Director, Conductor, and Musical Arts faculty.

The ACHS Instrumental Music program provides competitive band, percussion, and color guard experiences.  This includes at least four events per year for each performance ensemble: Marching Band and Color Guard in the first semester, and Winter Percussion and Winter Guard the second semester. ACHS Music is also the sponsor, and host for the Napa Valley Band Reserve.

Key stakeholders are our youth musicians and color guard performers grades 9 through 12 and their parents.   Our stakeholders also include our community partners – supporting businesses and non-profit organizations - and American Canyon residents who enjoy and appreciate performance arts.

ACHS Music delivers music theory, instrumental, and color guard instruction, along with competitive ensembles: “Wolf Pack” Marching Band and Color Guard, Winter Percussion, and Winter Guard. Traditional concert hall ensembles are: Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, String Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra.

Closely engaging with our home community is an essential part of our mission. To provide services to our community’s students and residents, a parent-led support organization, ACHSMusic.Org, brings current parents, alumni, service organizations, and businesses together to provide curriculum, community outreach, logistics, and financial support. ACHSMusic.Org provides not only time, expertise, and labor, but also fundraising - which is vitally important to mitigate the difference between state allocations and the educational growth experiences that our students require for lifelong success.
