Music Ensembles

Ensembles include chamber orchestra, jazz band, string orchcestra, wind ensemble and concert band. Chamber Orchestra is the string performance ensemble for Juniors and Seniors. Its repertoire is meant for a smaller ensemble and is far more challenging. Musicians learn to play as one - without a conductor. In Jazz Band, musicians shine as individuals and as a team playing classic big-band jazz from all eras. The Jazz Band also competes yearly at a festival in Reno to show its chops. All grades perform in the String Orchestra. Freshman and Sophomores have Junior and Senior mentors who challenge them to achieve. The Artistic Director programs works that build skills at all levels and fill a concert hall with a vibrant string sound. Junior and Seniors demonstrate their mastery of wind and percussion performers in the Wind Ensemble. The repertoire ranges from classical to humorous - and is always technically challenging. All grades perform in the Concert Band. Freshman and Sophomores have Junior and Senior mentors who challenge them to achieve. The Artistic Director programs works that build skills at all levels and fill a concert hall with a sound from sweet to majestic.
